My check engine light is on, does that mean I have an engine problem?
Actually, no. It could be caused by alot of things. It may indicate a transmission problem has been detected or something as simple as a loose gas cap. Most vehicles use the check engine light to inform you that it is time to have your vehicle checked for a malfunction. This malfunction can affect performance and gas consumption as well as being a safety concern. Always have you vehicle checked as soon as possible to help avoid costly repairs. Also, your check engine light(depending on your vehicle) could be a service engine soon light or icon, a check trans light, a flashing overdrive light, or something similar. Any light that blinks or stays illuminated should be checked out as soon as possible to avoid unneeded repairs down the road.
